UP Diliman Scholarships

The Office of Scholarships and Student Services announces the opening for application of the following scholarships effective the First Semester, 2009-2010:

ANGELO KING FOUNDATION, INC. SCHOLARSHIP

1. Applicants for the grant must be bona fide students enrolled in BS Mathematics, BS Chemistry or BS Biology; for freshmen;
2. must have qualified for admission in the University of the Philippines by passing the U.P. College Admission Test; for junior and senior students;
3. must have an average of "2.50" or better in the previous semester with no grade of "5.00", unremoved grade "4.00" or "incomplete".

Benefits:
School fees as assessed but not to exceed P5,000.00/semester;
Book allowance of P500.00/semester;
Stipend of P1,300.00/month.

BANK OF TOKYO SCHOLARSHIP  

1. An applicant for the scholarship must be a bona fide freshman and fifth year students enrolled in the following fields of studies: ECONOMICS, BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AND ACCOUNTANCY,LAW;
 

2. must be a Filipino citizen; if an entering freshman must be qualified for admission; if already enrolled must have obtained a general weighted average of at least "2.50" in all subjects taken; must have no grade of "5.00" or unremoved grade of "4.00" or "Incomplete";
 

3. must not have been found guilty of violation of any of the rules and regulations of the University, including but not limited to hazing and/or fraternity rumbles, whether on-campus or off-campus.

Benefits:
School fees up to P6,000.00/sem;
Book allowance of P1,000.00/sem;
Monthly stipend of P1,000.00;

BETA SIGMA NORTHWEST SCHOLARSHIP
1. An applicant for the scholarship shall have the following qualifications: must be a member of good standing of the BETA Sigma Fraternity who is enrolled in UP Diliman/Manila;
 

2. if an entering freshman, must have passed the UPCAT;
 

3. if already enrolled, must have obtained an average grade of "2.5" or better and must have carried a load of at least 15 units with no grade of "5.00" or unremoved "4.00" or "inc." in the semester immediately preceding the application;
 

4. must belong to a family whose parents' annual gross income is less than P500,000.00 must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of the grant;
 

5. must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action.

Benefits:
School fees as assessed but not to exceed P6,000.00/semester;
Book allowance of P750.00/semester;
monthly stipend at P1,000.00;
Transportation allowance P150/month.

CHEVRON GEOTHERMAL PHILIPPINE HOLDINGS INC. (CGPHI)
1. An applicant for the scholarship must be a bona fide third to fifth year B.S. Mechanical and B.S. Chemical Engineering students, third to fifth year B.S. Chemistry, B.S. Physics, B.S. Applied Physics, third to fourth year B.S. Geology students, third to fourth year B.S. Economics and B.S. Business Administration students, third to fourth year B.S. Social Work, B.S. Community Development and B.S. Mass Communication students;
 

2. must be a Filipino citizen;
 

3. must belong to Bracket 7 or lower based on the Socialized Tuition and Financial Assistance Program (STFAP) of the University; must have obtained a general weighted average of at least "2.50" in all subjects taken during the previous semester; must have no grade of "5.00" or unremoved grade of "4.00" or "Incomplete" in the immediately preceding semester; must not have been found guilty of violation of any of the rules and regulations of the University, including but not limited to hazing and/or fraternity rumbles, whether on-campus or off-campus.

DEAN ARMANDO J. MALAY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP IN JOURNALISM
1. An applicant for the scholarship must be a bona fide 2nd year B.A. Journalism student in UP Diliman;
 

2. must have obtained an average of "2.5" or better for a load of at least 15 units with no grade 

of "5.00" or unremoved grade of "4.00" or "inc." in the immediately preceding semester;
 

3. must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of the grant;
 

4. must have graduated from a public high school.
 

Benefits:
Semestral scholarship allowance of P5,000.00

DR. JOSE AND CELESTINA RAYMUNDO SCHOLARSHIP FUND
1. Applicants must be descendants of Dr. Jose and Celestina Raymundo;
 

2. Applicants must have successfully earned a high school diploma and must have passed the UPCAT; non-UPCAT passers shall have the option to seek admission to the UP Open University and shall enroll in a 2-year and 4-year degree program after successfully completing the two-year course. Descendants of Dr. Jose and Celestina Raymundo who are transferees or upperclassmen may also apply. Postgraduate study may also be covered for Raymundo descendants who are degree holders and have a general weighted average of "2.5" or better in the undergraduate course and are recommended by the Dean. Those already enrolled in the graduate level, must have obtained a general weighted average of at least "2.0" in the semester immediately preceding the application;
 

3. Applicants who are undergraduate level must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of the grant; if enrolled in Open University, must be enrolled in at least 12 units; if in the graduate level must be enrolled in at least 12 units, if enrolled in the Open University must be enrolled in at least 6 units;
 

4. Applicants must be financially needy (parents' annual gross income must not exceed P400,000) Other applicants with less financial need can be considered for partial grant covering tuition and books only, depending on the availability of the remaining fund's income. However, the partial grant should not exceed tuition and book allowances per semester for those covered by the new tuition and P10,000 for those covered by the old tuition.
 

5. Applicants must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action.
 

Benefits:
depends on the actual interest earnings of the fund but not exceeding P39,000/semester per scholar (for freshman students beginning 2007) and P25,000/semester (for old students)

EDUARDO CO SETENG SCHOLARSHIP
1. An applicant for the scholarship must be a bona fide sophomore B.S. Electrical Engineering student;
 

2. must have obtained an average of "2.25" or better during the immediately preceding semester for a load of not less than 15 units or the normal load required in his course if less than 15 units;
 

3. must have no grade of "5.00", unremoved grade of "4.00" or "inc." In the preceding semester; must not have been the subject of disciplinary action; the grantee shall be selected on the basis of the results of the competitive examination to be given by the Office of Scholarships and Student Services to the top five applicants.
 

Benefits:
Full amount of tuition and other matriculation fees;
book allowance of P500.00/sem;
monthly stipend of P700.00.

ESTER TANCO SCHOLARSHIP

A student is financially deserving if his/her financial situation qualifies him/her for STAFP bracket 7 or lower; must not be employed as student worker (e.g. student assistance) in the University or must not be a working student; and must not have been the subject of disciplinary penalty heavier than a five-day class suspension.

F.A.H.A. SCHOLARSHIP
1. An applicant for the grant must be bona fide undergraduate student of the University of the Philippines who is at least in his/her third year; must be a Filipino citizen; must be enrolled in any course in Education;
 

2. must have obtained an average of at least "2.50" and must have carried a load of at least 15 units with no grade of "5.00" or unremoved "4.00" or "Inc." in the semester immediately preceding the application;
 

3. must be financially deserving. A student is financially deserving if his parents' annual gross income qualifies him/her for Bracket 7 or lower under the STFAP program of the University; must not have been found guilty of violation of any of the rules and regulations of the University, including but not limited to hazing and/or fraternity rumbles, whether on-campus or off-campus.
 

Benefits:
Actual interest earnings of the fund but not to exceed P10,750.00 per Semester

FAUSTINO AGUILAR SCHOLARSHIP
1. An applicant shall have finished the first two years of any course offered at the College of Arts and Letters and College of Education but preferably major in Filipino Language;
 

2. must be a natural born citizen of the Philippines;
 

3. must obtained an average grade of "2.50" or better during the semester immediately 

preceding the application;
 

4. must no grade of "5.00" nor has obtained a grade of "4.00" or "inc" which has not yet been removed at the time of application;
 

5. must belong to a needy family whose annual gross income does not exceed P100,000.00;
 

6. must not been subject to disciplinary action of any kind.
 

Benefits:
Semestral stipend of P3,000.00.

FILIPINO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GROUP, USA SCHOLARSHIP (FITG)
1. Applicant must be a Filipino citizen;
 

2. must be a bona fide freshman student pursuing B.S. Computer Science;
 

3. must have passed the UPCAT; if already enrolled as a freshman, must have obtained an average of "2.00" or better for a load of at least 15 units with no grade of "5.00" or unremoved "4.00"or "inc." in the semester immediately preceding the application;
 

4. must not have been in the delinquent list in any given time;
 

5. must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of the grant;
 

6. must be financially needy (must belong to STFAP Bracket 7 or lower);
 

7. must submit an essay on a topic to be chosen by the grantor "Why do I deserve to be a scholar of FITG";
 

8. must not transfer to any course or go on leave of absence without prior approval from the Office of Scholarships and Student Services;
 

9. must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action.

FUJI BANK SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
1. Applicant for the grant must be Filipino citizen;
 

2. must be currently enrolled in any undergraduate field of study in the social sciences preferably in Law, Economics, Business Administration and Accountancy;
 

3. must preferably be with a senior standing; must have obtained a general weighted average of at least "2.50" in all subjects taken; must have no grade of "5.00" or unremoved grade of "4.00" or "Incomplete";
 

4. must not be a holder of any other scholarship or financial assistance. In case he/she holds other scholarship/financial assistance, the Office of Scholarships and Student Services must be properly informed so that there will be no duplication of benefits; must be financially deserving;
 

5. must be of pleasing personality and good moral character; must be a potential leader as shown by his/her extra-curricular activities;
 

6. must not have been found guilty of violation of any of the rules and regulations of the University including but not limited to hazing and/or fraternity rumbles, whatever on-campus or off-campus.

INSULAR LIFE FOUNDATION COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP GRANT
1. Open to third year BS Education(major in Math)/BS Math student: must be a bona fide student of the University of the Philippines, Diliman;
 

2. must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of the grant; must be financially needy (parents annual gross income must not exceed 200,000.00;
 

3. must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action worse than a five-day class suspension.

"ISKOLAR NG SUN LIFE" SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
1. applicant must be a Filipino citizen of good moral character and in good health;
 

2. must be at least third year student enrolled in Actuarial/Statistics or Natural Sciences;
 

3. must have an annual Grade Weighted Average of 2.0, or its equivalent in accordance with the Institution's grading scale, for all previous individual years of his stay with the institution;
 

4. must not have had a grade lower than 3.0, or its equivalent in accordance with the Institution's grading scale, or an incomplete subject, a dropped/withdrawn subject, for all previous individual years of his stay with the institution;
 

5. must not be a recipient of any other scholarship or educational grant;
 

6. must not have been suspended from the University at any time previous to his application for this grant, or during its effectivity;
 

7. must be financially challenged as defined in the agreement.

1. must be bona fide third year student of the UP College of Law;

semester immediately preceding the application;
 

3. must financially deserving. A student is financially deserving if his/her financialsituation qualifies him/her for STFAP Bracket 7 or lower;

3. must be financially needy (parents' annual gross income must not exceed P200,000);
 

4. must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action worse than a five-day class suspension.

LANDBANK - UP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
1. applicants must be Filipino citizen;
 

2. resident outside Metro manila in consonance with Landbank's mandate of supporting countryside development;
 

3. enrolled in a course relevant to the operations of Landbank like Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agri-Business, Agriculture, Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology, Fisheries, Forestry, Marketing, Information Technology, Engineering, Accountancy, and Business Administration;
 

4. must be a bona fide student of the University of the Philippines;
 

5. must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action;
 

6. must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of the grant;
 

7. classified under Bracket E of the UP Socialized Tuition and Financial Assistance Program (STFAP); and
 

8. willing to sign a contract stipulating that the scholar shall work in the Philippines after graduation, preferably in a government office, on a one-to-one basis, i.e., one (1) year for every year of scholarship funded by the Landbank - UP Scholarship Fund.

a stipend in the amount of Twelve Thousand Pesos (P12,000.00) per semester

LOREN LEGARDA-LEVISTE SCHOLARSHIP
1. An applicant for the scholarship must be a bona fide junior and senior regular Broadcast Communication students;
 

2. must be a natural-born Filipino citizen;
 

3. must have obtained a weighted average of at least "2.0" or better;
 

4. must have no grade of "5.00" and unremoved "4.00" or "incomplete" and must have carried a regular load in the semester immediately preceding the application;
 

5. must have good moral character and must not have been the subject of a disciplinary action worse than a 5-day class suspension.

MANUEL E. ARGUILLA SCHOLARSHIP
1. must be bona fide students of the College of Arts and Letters;
 

2. must have at least one semester's residence in the college;
 

3. must have enrolled in at least 15 units during the immediately preceding semester, if undergraduate students; at least 9 units if graduate;
 

4. must have passed all the subjects enrolled in during the immediately preceding semester;
 

5. must show proof of talent in creative writing in terms of published work or manuscript.

AVAILABLE SLOT: 1

MEGAWORLD LEADERSHIP FOR U.P. DILIMAN STUDENTS
1. An applicant for the grant shall be a bona fide students (freshman to senior) of the University of the Philippines who have an outstanding educational record at the University of the Philippines, have exceptional character and hold officer/leadership positions in various school organizations, student councils or associations; must be a Filipino citizen; must not be a recipient of any other similar scholarship or financial assistance except the university's scholarship program.
 

Benefits:
the foundation shall provide a scholarship grant of P30,000.00 per scholar for one (1) year.

MEGAWORLD SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR ARCHITECTURAL, ENGINEERING AND INTERIOR DESIGN COURSES
1. Applicants for the scholarship must be bona a fide incoming freshman students, (Engineering, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Geodetic) Architecture, B.S. Computer Science, Interior Design;
 

2. must belong to the top 10% of his/her high school class with a general weighted average of at least 80% or its equivalent and without any failing grade; if already enrolled, must have obtained a general weighted average of at least "2.50" with no grade of "5.00" or unremoved grade of 

"4.00" or "Incomplete" in all subjects taken and must have enrolled in not less than 15 units during the semester immediately preceding the application;
 

3. must not be a recipient of any other scholarship grant or financial assistance; must be financially deserving. A student is financially deserving if his/her parents' annual gross income does not exceed P200,000);
 

4. must be a permanent resident of the locality which he/she indicates as his/her home address; must be of good moral character;
 

5. must not have been found of guilty of violation of any of the rules and regulations of the University, including but not limited to hazing and/or fraternity rumbles, whether on-campus or off-campus.

METROBANK FOUNDATION, INC. SCHOLARSHIP
1. An applicant for the scholarship shall have the following qualifications: An incoming fourth year student enrolled at the College of Engineering;
 

2. obtained an average grade of "2.25" or better and must have carried a load of at least 15 units with no grade of "5.00" or unremoved "4.00" or "inc." in the semester immediately preceding the application; enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of the Grant;
 

3. financially needy (parents; annual gross income must not exceed P300,000); not have been the subject of any disciplinary action.
 

Benefits:
School fees as assessed but not to exceed P7,500.00;
Book Allowance of P5,000/semester;
Monthly stipend at P4,000 x 5 month

ONGKING FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP GRANT
1. Applicant must be a bona fide freshman student in UP Diliman;
 

2. must be a Filipino citizen;
 

3. must be financially needy;
 

4. must not be a recipient of any other private scholarships or financial assistance;
 

5. must not be found guilty or any other act of dishonesty or any other form of disciplinary charge.
 

Benefits: Actual interest earnings of endowment fund.
 

AVAILABLE SLOT: 1

PEDRO E. TEODORO JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP
1. This grant is available to two bonafide regular Journalism students of the College of Mass Communication who have the following qualifications:
 

2. must have obtained a general weighted average of "2.25" or better during the semester immediately preceding the application;
 

3. must have no grade of "5.00" or unremoved grade of "4.00" or "inc." in the semester immediately preceding the application;
 

4. must be regular student of the College during the preceding year and must have carried a normal academic load in the immediately preceding semester;
 

5. must be financially needy; must not have been subjected to disciplinary action either by the College or by the University.

POSCO Fellowship at U.P. Diliman
1. applicants must be Filipino citizens;
 

2. must be full time undergraduate students in UP Diliman;
 

3. must not be enjoying any other scholarship at the time of the award;
 

4. GPA: minimum of 2.00;
 

5. must carry a minimum load of at least 15 units every semester.
 

Benefits:
Peso equivalent of US $800.00 / person / year

PROF. SALUSTIANO TENGONCIANG
1. must be a Filipino citizen;
 

2. must be a junior or senior student in the B.S. Chemistry program;

5. must be financially deserving i.e. the annual gross income of parents must not exceed P180,000;

1. The scholarship is open to bona fide junior and senior regular Broadcast Communication students who have the following qualifications:

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (AVE) SPONSORED BY CONG. EULOGIO R. MAGSAYSAY Applicants for the scholarship must be bona fide junior students; must be enrolled in any Science & Technology related course offering of the University/College; must be Filipino citizens; must carry the regular load prescribed by the course; must have obtained a general weighted average of at least "2.0" in all subjects taken in previous semesters; must not be a recipient of any other scholarship grant; must be in good health; must have no current employment or lucrative occupation; must be a deserving student who comes from a family with an aggregate monthly income of not more than Php 8,000.00.

4. must have been recommended by a former professor/instructor; must be financially deserving; must be of good moral character;
 

5. must not have been found guilty of violation of any of the rules and regulations of the University including but not limited to hazing and/or fraternity rumbles, whether on-campus or off-campus.

UPAA-TOMAS S. FONACIER, DELFIN J. JARANILLA, ET. AL., SCHOLARSHIP FOR CULTURAL MINORITIES IN THE PHILIPPINES - Systemwide
1. An applicant for the grant must be a bona fide freshman student of the University of the Philippines;
 

2. must be enrolled in any four-or-five-year degree program and must carry a normal load of at least 15 units per semester;
 

3. must have qualified for admission; if already enrolled, must have a weighted average of at least "2.5" during the immediately preceding semester;
 

4. must be financially needy (parents' annual gross income must not exceed P200,000); must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action worse than a five day class suspension.

AVAILABLE SLOT: 2

UP CLASS 1949
1. must be Filipino citizens;
 

2. must be bona fide students of the University of the Phils. Diliman enrolled in the College of Law;
 

3. if an entering freshman, must have passed the LAE; if already enrolled, must have carried a load of at least 15 units with no grade of "5.00" in the semester immediately preceding the application. Any grade of "4.00" or "inc." must be removed or completed on or before the last day of registration of the immediately following semester;
 

4. must be financially needy; a student is considered financially need if his/her parents' gross income within STFAP Brackets 1 to 4;
 

5. must not have been found guilty of cheating or committing any act of dishonesty in relation to their studies;
 

6. must not have been found guilty of participating in any violent incident, such as hazing and/or fraternity rumbles, whether on campus or off campus;
 

7. must not be the subject of any disciplinary action graver than a five-day class suspension including conditions III (e) and (f).

UPAW SCHOLARSHIP
1. Applicant must be a bona fide student of the University of the Philippines enrolled in any four-year course;
 

2. if an entering freshman, must have passed the UPCAT; if already enrolled, must have obtained an average grade of "2.5" or better and must have carried a load of at least 15 units with no grade of "5.00" or unremoved "4.00" or "inc" in the semester immediately preceding the application;
 

3. must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of the grant;
 

4. must belong to STFAP brackets 1 to 5;
 

5. must come from the rural areas;
 

6. must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action.
 

Benefits:
School fees as assessed but not to exceed P6,000/sem.
Book allowance of P750/sem.
Monthly stipend of P1,000.00
Transportation allowance of P150/month

WILLY KENG SCHOLARSHIP
1. Applicant must be third or fourth year undergraduate students of the University of the Philippines;
 

2. must have obtained a general weighted average of "2.00" or better and must have no grade of "5.00" or unremoved "4.00" or "inc" in the semester immediately preceding the application, if applying for undergraduate level. If applying for the graduate slots, must have a general weighted average of "1.75" or better with no grade of "dropped" or "incomplete except in Ph.D Political Science where the general weighted average must be "1.50" or better in at least 12 units;
 

3. must be enrolled in at least 15 units for the undergraduate level and in 12 units for the graduate level at the time of the award of the grant;
 

4. must be financially needy (parents annual gross income must not exceed P300,000); must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action.

CREAM SILK WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM Deadline of Submission: June 15, 2009
 

1. must be female;
 

2. must be among the top 25% of her graduating high school batch, as certified by the Head of the high school;
 

3. must have passed the UPCAT and open to female (freshmen) from all courses;
 

4. priority will be given to those who need financial assistance;
 

5. must submit a 300-word essay in English or Filipino entitled "Why I Believe in Women Empowerment" in soft and hard copies.
