The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) of the Philippines ordered the closure of two degree courses of Philippine Maritime Institute starting second semester, academic year 2011-2012.
Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation and Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering will be closed effective second semester this school year. Resolution No. 092-2011 as amended by Resolution No. 139-2011 was signed by the commission on May in approval of the said closure.
CHED stated that PMI failed to rectify the series of deficiencies it committed since 2006.
